Hi,

I have a 98 Jetta TDI. I just bought it used about 3 months ago. When I used the remote to lock or unlock the car, the alarm would beep. One day it stopped beeping and now the alarm does not go off if I open the truck, etc, without disarming it first, as it used to.

Did the alarm turn off somehow? How can I turn it back on? The remote that the car came with is a replacement, not the VW issued one.

Holding down various buttons on the remote, manually locking and unlocking doors with the key
