I have a 96 Passat VR6, the problem started with the trunk not locking from the drivers side door handle, then the alarm stopped arming, this was followed by intermittent crank but no start, now I am faced with a constant crank but no start yet I can pop it and drive all day if I wanted to. I have no fuel pump prime, no spark when I crank, I have changed the fuel pump relay and the ignition switch to no luck. Please point me in the right direction.

Optional Information:
1996 Volkswagen Passat VR6

Already Tried:
Fuel Pump relay, ignition switch, energized pump circuit pump works fine,

I have gone away from the door and the alarm the dealer said that if it was the alarm I wouldnt be able to pop start it. I have gone all the way beck to the ECM connector and energized the pump circuit the pump works fine, so I would have to say that the ECM is not telling the pump to run, But once again the dealer says if I can pop start it its not the ECM, so why wont the ECM tell the pump to prime and run.

I just tested at the ECM with the power probe so that I could make sure all the wiring was good. I was grounding out the terminal 86 all the way at the ECM to check and make sure it all worked. When I gave ground to that wire the relay closed and the pump ran so I know the relay and wiring are good. If I check that same terminal 86 for a ground signal when the key is on I do not have one. I can jump the terminals in the realy panel and make the pump run and even while the pump is running the car will not start. Thank you for you for your help.

Ok I have a wire coming in to the solenoid form the firewall which is obviously the one that activates the solenoid form the ignition, and then I have the positive wire going to the large stud on the solenoid and another wire on the same stud which does not go to the coil it runs along the front of the block behind the intake and seems as if it goes to the altenator but I lose it behind the manifold.

I am not sure of what the terminal number is because I can not find a 15 on the relay or the panel but I do have a terminal that goes to one of the small prongs on the relay that gets voltage from the ignition.

Thanks Herb for opting out I appreciate it leaving me high and dry. I am hoping you read this cause I want you to explain to me why alldata says the signal for the relay comes from the ecm. And i checked the plugs like you wanted and there were no signs of burning or charring. And there are more than 3 I dont know which ones you meant but I checked them all
